5 reasons to buy in Spain

Seems like the whole world and his dog are looking for a property in the Mediterranean, if they haven’t bought one already. So what’s the big deal? What’s really so great about living in Spain?

The weather: It almost goes without saying that the weather on the Spanish coast is positively tropical compared with old Blighty. With the average temperature and sunshine hours being twice as much as the UK all year round, it’s time to get your tan on!

Food (and drink!): You may not be familiar with Spanish gastronomy, but rest assured it is some of the best in the world: chorizo sausage, luscious Serrano ham, endless fresh fruit and veg, not to mention the countless varieties of exquisite local beers and wines.

Leisure time: Spaniards are known for taking it easy, and not without reason. Whether you’re more into golf, tennis or the Spanish variant on tennis, padel, or you prefer a gentle dip in the sea and bronzing on the beach with a siesta, or even hiking in the mountains and skiing, Spain has it all.

As if that wasn’t enough…

Cost of living: As if all that weren’t enough, it’s ridiculously cheap! While exchange rates may rise and fall what with the economic crisis, Brexit, etc., the truth is that Spain remains one of the most economical places to live, with everything from houses and property to a loaf of bread being significantly cheaper.

Culture: The best things in life are free, though, and money can’t buy the wealth of cultural history that Spain has. Each different region of the country has its own particular identity and traditions, which are best expressed during the local fiestas, or week-long party. As well as the well-known Tomatina tomato-throwing festival and the running of the bulls in Pamplona, there are more obscure celebrations like the cherry-blossom festival in el Valle de Jerte or the carnival parade in Tenerife.

So what’s stopping you? Start looking for a property in Spain today!
